Lilith returns to Kings Cross

29th May, 17

We are pleased to announce that due to popular demand, Lilith will return to the Platform Theatre, Kings Cross. This untold tale of the world’s alternate first woman, choreographed by Chrysalis London’s Artistic Director Jodie Blemings, will be performed on the 27th, 28th and 29th July 2017 at 7.30pm each evening.

Lilith includes the duet Deliverance, performed on the BBC Young Dancer 2017 by the winner and Chrysalis London company member Nafisah Baba and her partner Lois Wong, also a member of Chrysalis London who will be reprising their principle roles as Ianna and Lilith (see video below).

Lilith is once again being staged in collaboration with Central St Martins featuring costumes and set designed by a select group of the University’s students and graduates.

The score for Lilith was put together by British musician and Musical Director of Zoonation Dance Company; DJ Walde, who mixed, blended and composed to create a soundtrack that segues seamlessly from classical to dubstep and all that’s in between.

Lighting designer Andrew Ellis (National Youth Ballet & Balletboyz) has created lighting that allows the audience to truly become fully immersed in the world of Lilith.

Master Puppeteer Andy Heath (Co-founder Talk to the Hand Puppets – Mongrels, Muppets Most Wanted, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Yonderland) collaborated with upcoming puppet designer Emily Morus-Jones to create unique, innovative and spectacular headpieces for the animals of Eden.

Lilith’s storyline uses an amalgamation of the various tales of the mythological figure from modern, Mesopotamian and Jewish mythology, to present an original story. Blemings’ intricate choreography incorporates and displays delicate beauty with aggression and power to portray an emotive story that comments on the issue of female suppression and portrays Lilith as a figure of female empowerment; the first woman striving for equality. Lilith shines a light on human rights violations, victims of conflict and the need for humanity to reboot its soul.
